JOB BAND: C
CONTRACT TYPE: 6mths Full-time / Fixed-term Contract until 31 January 2025
DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations BBC Cymru Wales Business & Operations
LOCATION: Cardiff office based minimum 3 to 4 days
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 30000 - 36000 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Resource Scheduler to become an integral part of our team working in close collaboration with Operational departments across BBC Wales and a wide array of external this pivotal role the successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating the craft teams and post-production facilities ensuring seamless service delivery to a diverse client base. This will be carried out in line with production schedules transmission requirements service conditions and the strategic goals of the operational units.

Our team leads planning and scheduling across a wide range of areas including (but not limited to) Studios and OBs Audio Post Production TV Presentation Graphics Technology Sport and News production.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Respond to client enquiries and produce quotes aligned with company policies while ensuring projects stay on budget and schedule.
  • Manage staff schedules and rotas to reflect employment terms and support training and development based on individual plans.
  • Serve as the main operational contact for clients providing expert advice on post-production solutions and overseeing delivery timelines.
  • Maximise post-production resources by guiding production teams on suitable workflows based on staff and facility availability.
  • Source and contract freelance and casual staff ensuring coverage and support during peak periods
  • Create and maintain post-production schedules manage bookings and keep teams informed on project requirements and changes.
  • Contribute to operations reporting financial tracking staff utilisation and invoice sign-off ensuring smooth end-to-end delivery.


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • You will need strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise multiple requirements from various departments.
  • You will need the ability to adapt to continually changing business needs.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of scheduling systems together with well-developed IT skills and ability to quickly learn digital systems.
  • Experience working in a programme making environment good general knowledge of programme making techniques and detailed knowledge of techniques related to own area of responsibility.
  • Experience working in a post-production environment
  • You will have an excellent knowledge of policies and Working Time Directive to enable support of Resource Scheduling.
  • You will need to maintain awareness of key dates/deadlines and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • You will be comfortable working with colleagues at differing levels of seniority across a wide range of roles and demonstrate excellent communications skills.
  • Team player who can provide valued contributions to business discussions.
