The role
As a Principal Systems Engineer youll have a role thats out of the ordinary. Joining our Mission Systems business unit you will be responsible for modelling and simulation across the extensive modernisation and further development of the UK MOD satellite network known as Skynet Service Delivery Wrapper (SDW).

Day-to-day youll take a detailed orientated and methodical approach to modelling and simulation across the extensive modernisation and further development of Skynet using tools such as Ansys STK.

• Provision of Holistic Life Cycle Systems Engineering support to Engineering Work Packages including an understanding of the CADMID/T life cycle and its alignment with systems/product life cycles;
• Delivery of systems engineering activities in accordance with the Top-Level Engineering Management Plan (EMP) and ITEA Strategy from requirements capture to delivery.
• Provide leadership of Model Based System Engineering and undertake ArchiMate modelling and STK Simulation of the system under development
• Own all SE artifacts for your assigned work packages including development of engineering plans in conjunction with the technical lead for your work packages.
• Apply Systems Engineering best practice and systems thinking to develop solutions tailored to meet requirements.
• Identify and communicate Technical Risk Assumptions Issues Dependencies and Opportunities (RAIDO) for assigned work packages linked to the Programme Level RAIDO. Developing estimates of engineering activity duration and resource requirement

This role is full time part time 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with up to 2 days per week in the office/onsite.

Essential experience of the Principal Systems Engineer

• Experience in a technical discipline who has the confidence to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team with drive to think with a systems perspective. Be a good communicator both written and oral and able to liaise at all levels with customers/stakeholders.
• Ability to identify and manage interfaces specifications and certificates producing boundary views. Experience with relevant tools IBM DOORS STK and EA SPARX
• Proven ability to undertake technical management of internal and external sub-contractors with levels of delegated expertise across the engineering life cycle V-Model or equivalent from initial concepts requirements design implementation integration verification validation maintenance and supportability.
• Experienced in management of technical and project risks.

Qualifications for the Principal Systems Engineer
Ideally you will hold a degree or equivalent within an Engineering Discipline however we value difference and dont have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education provided you can show the required level of experience and/or willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.
