As an Apprentice Carpenter with Queensland Rail based at our Portsmith Depot in Cairns youll contribute to our proud legacy and help us build an even brighter more sustainable future and that means incredible things for your career. Youll work alongside qualified carpenters to help maintain and restore the iconic Kuranda Scenic Railway (KSR) carriages a heritage-listed tourist experience that winds through the ancient rainforest between Cairns and addition to this unique work youll also contribute to broader facility maintenance projects across the network.
Our Apprentice Opportunities
In this apprenticeship you will
- Perform all work safely and in line with Workplace Health Safety Environmental and legislative requirements.
- Contributetothereliabilityandavailabilitythroughperformance ofpreventativemaintenanceandrepairstocarriages plant and facilitiesinaccordancewithrelevantproceduresandinstructions.
- Maintain accurate records of asset condition maintenance programs and costs.
- Actively participate in team meetings safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Commit to your Apprentice Training Contract by attending block training and completing on-the-job log books promptly.
As an Apprentice you will have
- A genuine interest in carpentry with a willingness to learn and develop trade skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to working safely and following instructions.
- Reliable motivated and able to work effectively both in a team and independently.
