Job Duties
The Department of Conservation and Recreation is looking for an experienced Risk and Compliance Manager to serve as part of the Division of Administration and Finance. This role will also serve as the Agency Transportation Officer (ATO) and Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) for the agency.

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is the states lead conservation agency and it takes a diverse agency to conserve resources for a diverse commonwealth.

Minimum Qualifications
Considerable experience in claim management spanning across the realm of property liability auto and workers compensation. Demonstrated ability to read interpret and apply complex contractual policy statutory and case law including preparing and managing contested liability claims for litigation in partnership with internal and external stakeholders. Skilled in developing lesson plans and delivering training to audiences on risk management and safety topics both in-person and in a virtual format. Proficient in conducting facility inspections and audits to assess compliance with OSHA and VOSH regulations investigating loss events and preparing thorough root cause analysis professional reports. Comprehensive knowledge of complex occupational health and safety laws regulations and standards including the Virginia Workers Compensation Act; OSHA regulations (Code of Federal Regulations for General Industry and Construction); BOCA National Building and Fire Prevention Codes; National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Additional Considerations
Experience directing loss control and risk management programs for a large company or state agency. Safety Certification from the National Safety Council or the American Society of Safety Engineer preferred. Experience negotiating and settling claims. Experience helping counsel prepare cases for litigation.

This postilion will be based in Richmond VA serving locations throughout the Commonwealth. Remote location would be considered.
