JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant/Associate Director works with all transfer adult and readmitted students. They represent the College both on and off-campus to prospective students parents community colleges and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. This position will coordinate with faculty Registrars Office and colleges/universities to successfully complete the college transfer process.

The goals of this position are to identify and increase the numbers of students most likely to be successful and graduate from Greensboro College to enroll and retain students through graduation and to assist students and parents through the admissions process.

As the first contact for many potential applicants the successful candidate will possess the following traits: professionalism congeniality empathy and patience.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record required
  • Experience advising college students with a knowledge of how transfer credit is evaluated
  • Knowledge of operating standard office equipment computer systems and software including the Microsoft Suite among others is strongly preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to organize and follow through with tasks
  • Ability to interpret and apply written policies while managing multiple programs and varied admission criteria
  • Willingness to work closely in team contexts
  • A sense of humor high energy outstanding customer service skills and the ability to successfully work with a wide variety of constituencies
  • Previous administrative experience in a college/university setting
  • Local day travel required. Some evenings and weekends required
  • Participate in general admission activities (Staff meetings Open Houses/Admitted Student Days Student Events)
  • Other duties as assigned

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with faculty and the Registrars Office quickly coordinate the process of transcript evaluation for prospective students. Communicate the evaluation back to the student with the number of courses to complete the degree program
  • Coordinate visits and establish relationships with local community colleges
  • Serve as the first application reader for masters teacher licensure and undergraduate transfer students
  • After acceptance advise and counsel prospective undergraduate transfer students and families on particular courses to enroll in the first semester
  • Meet one-on-one with prospective students and families to explain counsel and lead them through the admission process
  • Upload transcripts into Soft Docs and our CRM (SLATE) for evaluation
  • Follow up with students/parents via text email and telephone to communicate next steps in the enrollment process
  • Conduct group information sessions and represent the college during special programs events and campus visits
  • Maintain knowledge of current financial aid policies and procedures for Federal State and Institutional aid including an understanding of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Academic Advising and registration experience in a community college or four-year setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with students parents College personnel and other educational institutions
  • Experience with transcript evaluations
  • Experience working with international student populations
  • A highly motivated self-starter who can work independently
  • Willingness to attend student activities concerts and athletic contests to become assimilated into the campus culture
  • Experience with SLATE or other CRM programs
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
