BioDot has been the global leader in microliter nanoliter and picoliter dispensing technology for 30 years. This position will support new product development (automated dispensing workstations). Beyond generic dispensing platforms for manufacturing and research environments BioDot is focused on developing and commercializing platforms that offer complete automated workflows in all areas of basic research.
The Systems Engineer will work closely with the application team and the broader engineering team (mechanical electrical and software engineers) to design build and validate new products. The ideal candidate will be skilled in electrical mechanical and software/firmware design so they can holistically support programs. This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams to drive success and achieve ambitious goals.
Job Description
- Engineering technical lead offering guidance and mentorship for the product development team (application scientists mechanical engineers software engineers broader FAS support sales and marketing teams)
- Participate in design and documentation reviews.
- Ensure designs are compliant with industry safety and performance standards including regulatory standards such as UL FCC or CE.
- Perform testing and debugging to ensure hardware reliability and performance.
- Carry out methodical technical troubleshooting and diagnosis of failed equipment in support of root cause analysis.
- Develop test plans execute validation and testing procedures perform data analysis and write technical reports.
- Support production purchasing and quality with changes or reviews to new and existing product
- Support projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop training documentation and provide training for the support organization (Field Service Engineers)
- Travel to customer sites to address complex service issues
- Up to 10%-30% domestic and international travel may be required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- 4-7 years of hands-on electrical/hardware engineering design experience in embedded hardware design including technology or product development responsibility.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with analytical instrumentation laboratory automation electronics mechanical engineering or computers is highly desirable.
- Proficiency AutoCAD SolidWorks C/C Java Visual Basic Python or MATLAB.
- Mechanical and electrical inspection and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshooting application protocols and instrumentation.
- Liquid handling performance and optimization including camera systems.
- Experience using DMM oscilloscopes logic analyzers and spectrum analyzers to support lab testing.
The base salary range for this role is between $90000- $105000. The role is eligible to participate in the companys discretionary bonus program.
