Job Description
Position: Payroll Assistant
Location: Saratoga Springs NY (Onsite)
Type: Full-Time
Pay: $23$25 per hour
About the Opportunity
A vertically-integrated private equity real estate firm with over $6.6 billion in assets under management and a national footprint is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join its Human Resources team. This firm is one of the largest private owners and operators of self-storage properties with a strong presence across 28 U.S. states 2 Canadian provinces and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
This is an in-office high-volume role ideal for someone looking to grow within HR or payroll operations. The right candidate will support multi-state payroll processing and help maintain a smooth and compliant payroll function.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to employee questions related to payroll taxes PTO and wage deductions
- Conduct pre-payroll reviews to catch errors or omissions
- Maintain accurate payroll records for new hires transfers and terminations
- Support onboarding tasks through Dayforce ensuring documentation is completed on time
- Assist with payroll audits (weekly monthly and quarterly) covering 401(k) benefit deductions and compliance
- Process wage garnishments levies and court-ordered payments
- Deliver regular payroll reports to various departments
- Handle employment verification inquiries
- Collaborate with other HR team members as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in payroll HR or accounting support
- Familiarity with payroll compliance and multi-state payroll operations
- Prior experience with Dayforce is a plus but not required
- High attention to detail and a proactive mindset
- Strong integrity reliability and organizational skills
- Interest in long-term growth within HR or payroll
