Intern European Curatorial Application Deadline: 8/7/2025 Location:Kansas City MO Total Hours:160 hours(Fall) Eligibility:Open to UMKC students approved for a Mellon Internship About the Role Are you passionate about art history curatorial research and exhibition development The European Curatorial Intern will work closely with the curatorial staff to assist with research and object documentation for two upcoming exhibitions on Alphonse Mucha and Art Nouveau. This internship provides a unique opportunity to develop hands-on experience in museum research exhibition preparation and object cataloging while gaining insight into the curatorial process. What Youll Do - Conduct Research: Study works in the museums print collection related to Alphonse Mucha and Art Nouveau.
- Assist with Object Documentation: Compile and organize object files ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Review Exhibition Histories & References: Update exhibition records bibliographic references and provenance details.
- Cross-Reference Key Resources: Utilize catalogues raisonns auction records and scholarly publications to support research.
- Support Imaging & Documentation: Assist with requesting high-resolution images and ensuring proper documentation.
- Draft Interpretive Content: Contribute to object summaries and potential exhibition label drafts.
- Engage in Curatorial Meetings: Participate in discussions relevant to the exhibitions.
Who You Are - Must be anundergraduate student at UMKC pursuing a degree in the humanities.
- A junior or senior pursuing a major or minor in Art History.
- Interested in museum careers or graduate studies in Art History (preferred).
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and research skills.
- Comfortable working independently while managing multiple tasks.
