Job Overview/Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Ward Manager to oversee the efficient day-to-day operations of a busy surgical ward. The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical expertise with leadership capabilities ensuring the highest standards of patient care and team performance.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage clinical operations on the ward
Ensure delivery of safe high-quality patient care
Supervise and support nursing and support staff
Manage staff rosters and ensure appropriate staffing levels
Oversee budget and resource allocation
Maintain compliance with CQC standards
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and team development
Act as a role model and uphold professional standards
Primary Skills:
Registered Nurse (RN) with valid NMC registration
Minimum 5 years of clinical experience with a strong surgical background
At least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role
Strong clinical and decision-making skills
Proven ability to manage teams and healthcare environments
Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
Experience managing rosters and staffing
Knowledge of CQC standards and regulatory compliance
Experience managing budgets and resources
Positive attitude flexibility and adaptability
Enthusiasm for innovation in care delivery
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
Active NMC registration
Leadership training or qualifications (preferred but not required)
