Job Title: Speech Pathologist (Pediatric)
Location: WPAFB 88th Medical Group 4881 Sugar Maple Drive Wright Patterson AFB OH 45433
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday(variable 8-hour shifts between 0730 and 1900 up to two days per week); includes one week of TDY travel per month
Qualifications:
-
Education: Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field from a CAA-accredited program (ASHA)

Experience: Completion of required clinical practicum in speech-language pathology; Experience working with pediatric populations especially children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) preferred

Familiarity with administering developmental assessments such as FEAS CARS and REEL

License/Certification:
-
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

Current unrestricted license to practice as a Speech Pathologist in any U.S. state or territory

Must also be eligible for licensure in any state where telehealth services may be delivered during TDY travel

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Certification in the PLAY Project (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) must be obtained within 6 months of hire

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
Responsibilities:
-
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments; deliver evidence-based treatment interventions and offer expert consultation to fellow health care professionals.

Utilize specialized instrumentation (including videofluoroscopy nasendoscopy stroboscopy and computer technology) to observe collect data and measure parameters related to communication swallowing or other upper aero-digestive functions adhering strictly to evidence-based practice guidelines.

Provide prevention screening consultation assessment diagnosis treatment intervention management counseling and follow-up services for speech and language disorders encompassing comprehension and expression across oral written graphic and manual modalities.

Develop individualized treatment plans targeting expressive and receptive language speech production social communication and feeding/swallowing needs as appropriate.

Deliver therapeutic services utilizing the parent-mediated PLAY Project model.

Maintain accurate documentation of treatment sessions and progress through secure electronic systems.

Participate in monthly travel assignments providing one-week TDY support for PLAY services at additional military treatment facilities.

Collaborate effectively with psychologists occupational therapists and social workers as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team.
