Job Description
This role is responsible for delivering high-quality psychiatric care to individuals in immigration detention ensuring evidence-based treatment and clinical excellence.
This role is ideally 1 to 2 days per week providing remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations.
Join us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by:
- Conducting psychiatric assessments diagnoses and treatment plans for patients with mental health disorders in immigration detention.
- Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including but not limited to medical nursing and allied health staff to ensure holistic recovery orientated and trauma informed care for detainees.
- Providing clinical advice and support regarding psychiatric conditions and treatment options.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of psychiatric services by participating in policy development education training and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensuring psychiatric care aligns with clinical governance regulatory standards and organisational policies.
This position reports to the Clinical Manager Virtual Care Centre for day-to-day operational requirements and to the Lead Psychiatrist for matters related to professional practice and peer support.

You will have strong clinical decision-making skills particularly in complex or high-pressure situations. You will demonstrate a proven ability to work effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Experience in forensic custodial or immigration health settings is highly desirable.
