1.00 FTE Continuing Positions (approximately 6 elementary openings & 4 secondary openings) - 7.50 hours per day - 180 days per year
Positions will start the beginning of the 2018-2019 School Year.

Salary Schedule: MEA Bachelor & Master Base & TRI Schedules at Goal:

The English Language Learner (ELL)teacher is responsible for supporting students in our system that qualify forEnglish Learner support ensuring academic learning is accessible to studentswhose dominant language is one other than English. The ELL teacher isaccountable to the building administrators and program director forinterpreting and executing the responsibilities herein in addition to anyother responsibilities that are ELL teacher maintains contact with parents community organizationsand other agencies to promote understanding of the objectives of the programand the school district.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington StateTeacher certificate with English Language Learner or English as a SecondLanguage endorsement required
  • Additional ElementaryEducation endorsement or Secondary endorsement preferred
  • Special experienceand/or training in working with ELL students and peer coaching or co-teachingis preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Demonstrated interestin and evidence of continued personal and professional growth
  • Experience and/orknowledge of Common Core Standards required
  • Excellent oral andwritten communication skills
  • Successful teachingexperience at appropriate grade level preferred
  • Possess generalknowledge and varied experience
  • Experience and/ortraining with cultural ethnic and language diversity preferred

EssentialJob Functions:

  • Deliverappropriate instruction to help English Learners successfully meet academicstandards in English Language Arts
  • FosterEnglish language acquisition enhance academic progress and build studentsself-esteem in their EL classroom and the school as a whole.
  • Confer with teachersadministrators support staff and/or parents to determine language and academicneeds of ELL students
  • Administer formal or informal tests tofurther determine needs of students
  • Establish and maintainstandards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere
  • Work cooperatively with others inachieving common goals supporting Professional Learning Communities
  • Contribute to the orderly developmentand conduct of program learning activities and curriculum
  • Provide differentiated instruction(Sheltered Instruction) for all students including special education and ELL
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers andwork within grade-level classrooms to assist ELL students in accessing contentlearning
  • Develop individualized academic programsdesigned to meet the specific needs of select ELL students
  • Implement the individualized programs byworking with small groups of students to improve their language skills andacademic performance
  • Maintain records of students progress
  • Assist in orienting training andassigning paraprofessionals to work with ELL students
  • Monitor studentactivities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
  • Report incidents (childabuse fights substance abuse etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personalsafety of students providing a positive learning environment and adhering toeducation code and district and school policies
  • Provide an exceptionaleducational experience to all students; communicate an enthusiasm for learning
  • Utilize districtadopted curriculum to guide instruction
  • Establish and maintainstandards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly productiveenvironment for learning
  • Maintain consistentpresence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
  • Professionally interactwith students staff and public
  • Establish and maintainprofessional contacts with students
  • Comply with alldistrict policies and procedures
  • Comply with the Code ofProfessional Conduct
  • Perform related dutiesas assigned
