Schneps Mediais the leading local news media company in New York dedicated to serving communities with trusted news and valuable content. We empower local businesses both small and large by providing highly effective advertising solutions that drive growth.
Schneps Media Long Island seeks a Deputy Managing Editor for their chain of local news outlets covering Nassau County.
The Deputy Managing Editor will work closely with our Editor in Chief Digital Editor Reporters and Graphic Artists. The role will edit stories from our Wordpress CMS to expedite online publishing of stories and placement of the stories in our pagination system. The editor will help make sure deadlines are met and workflow moves from editing to publishing and layout efficiently.
The qualified candidate must be a current Long Island resident have at least 3 years experience working in a newsroom; have strong digital skills related to Wordpress optimizing stories and SEO best practices; be organized and work well with a team.
Main Responsibilities Include:
Editing and proofreading of stories
Helping to manage production of content from web to print
Making sure deadlines are met for reporters and production
Support editor in chief with assignments and/or working with reporters
Support digital editor to make sure reporters use best practices when posting stories in our CMS
Coordinate with designers and sales manager
