This is an exciting opportunity to assist in developing a program to support students with social/emotional and behavioral challenges. The successful candidate will have knowledge of trauma informed practices and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Implements state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education Participates in the development of and oversees implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education Supervises and supports paraprofessionals as they implement instruction Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning environment in the classroom. Establishes evaluates and maintains data on students academic and social growth keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students progress and interpret the school program. Identifies student needs and collaborates with other professional staff members to determine solutions. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities. Experience working with children with special needs in a public school setting preferred Experience administering standardized assessments developing reports and writing individual educational plans Knowledgeable about specialized instruction approaches to address academic deficits and behavioral challenges CPI certified or willing to be trained Knowledge of and ability to execute behavior plans Able to collect data and formulate action plans Effective communication organizational and interpersonal skillsThis individual will work under the general supervision of the director of student services building principal and/or another designated administrator.
