We are currently seeking a Health Safety and Environment Supervisor to support our QEII project in Halifax NS. The QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Program (HIEP) is a 1.2 million square foot expansion of the Province of Nova Scotias existing QEII campus being completed under a complex P3 contract structure. PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is collaborating with multiple partners from across the country to undertake the single largest healthcare infrastructure project considered in Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities
- Implements and supports project HSE plans ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to safe work practices while maintaining a strong proactive presence in the field.
- Identifies evaluates develops and delivers project specific HSE training.
- Recognizes evaluates and advises on hazard identification.
- Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and trade safety plans.
- Develops and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan.
- Monitors and audits trade contractor HSE performance.
- Participates in on-site investigative processes and evaluating corrective actions taken.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Coaches trains and mentors HSE Coordinators PCL staff trade contractors and workers.
Qualifications
- Secondary education (i.e. Bachelors degree diploma or certificate) in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Holds safety designation.
- 5 years experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset.
- Solid understanding of applicable occupational health safety and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
- Conflict resolution skills with the ability to problem-solve.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop influence and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
Working Conditions
- Attendance at both open and close shift meetings will be required.
- Weekend shifts may be required based on project needs so availability on weekends is essential.
