Job Description

The Opportunity

We have a wonderful opportunity for a newly admitted lawyer (up to 3 years PAE) to join our Canberra Public Law team. Located within a stones throw of City Hill our Canberra office is home to a large team of lawyers heavily committed to the Commonwealth and the Governments operations. You will work closely with three Principals and receive on the job-mentoring whilst getting involved in a range of interesting matters.

Working in our Public Law practice you would be working for a large number of top tier government clients focused on delivering high quality legal advice and litigation services. The work is varied and not high volume and includes drafting administrative decision in a variety of statutory schemes defending merits review and judicial review applications in tribunals and courts advising on FOI and privacy issues and conducting administrative inquiries. There may also be opportunities for secondments with select clients and the opportunity to conduct advocacy in relation to litigated matters. You will be working in a supportive environment in which you will have the opportunity to develop and take your career to the next level.

What we need is a team player who is keen to go the extra mile with a genuine interest in public law and advocacy ideally with some pre-existing commonwealth experience. The successful candidate will be required to hold a baseline security clearance.
