This is a 10 MONTH Full-Time position.
Position Overview:
The Director of School Ministry oversees the School Ministry Program which is the heart of the Archdiocesan Secondary collaboration with the school administration the Director of School Ministry provides liturgical experiences faith formation opportunities and retreats which foster intentional discipleship for students and faculty.
The Director of School Ministry is also a teaching member of the Theology Department. This persons direct supervisor is the principal and supports the Priest Chaplin oversight of the Eucharist and other Liturgical Celebrations connected to the Schools ministry.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
Coordinates and schedules weekday Mass schedule and intentions
Coordinates Kairos retreats class retreats and faculty retreats (reservations busing paperwork scheduling speakers training student leaders etc.)
Composes and publishes worship aids booklets handouts etc. for liturgies para- liturgical services retreats and assemblies.
Promotes campus ministry activities especially through effective use of social media and other electronic communication.
Schedules student and adult ministers (i.e. lectors altar servers extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion etc.) for school liturgies and ensures that they are practiced and prepared.
Collaborates with the Chorus Director to plan music for school liturgies.
Arranges liturgical furnishings in the auditorium whenever school liturgies are celebrated.
Schedules local priests to assist with School Confessions in Advent and Lent.
Works with the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs to plan activities for Catholic Schools Week
Creates a plan for daily prayers in the morning.
Collaborates with the Priest Chaplain to ensure that the Chapel and all liturgical vessels and vestments are maintained and cleaned regularly.
Collaborates with the Priest Chaplain to make weekly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament available during the school day.
Orders necessary supplies for school liturgies (i.e. hosts candles altar wine)
Ensures compliance with school policies regulations and objectives.
Teaches (2) sections of Theology:
o Prepare and deliver engaging and structured lectures/lessons to students.
o Follow the curriculum framework designated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
o Collaborate with other department members to create course lesson plans and materials.
o Develop in each student an understanding of the Catholic Faith
o Adapt materials and methods to develop assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
o Ensures compliance with school and department policies regulations and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in theology religious studies or an acceptable equivalent from a Catholic college or university
Previous experience in secondary education campus ministry youth ministry or parish life.
Must be a practicing Catholic willing to uphold Catholic moral teaching and leading a life consistent with the Catholic Faith
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Word Excel PowerPoint etc.) email and social media (Facebook Twitter) preferred.
