POSITION OVERVIEW
This role is responsible for delivering high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) instruction in Agriculture STEM and Construction-related fields with a focus on hands-on learning and industry relevance. The position includes coaching and mentoring CTE students supporting extracurricular programs such as FFA and SkillsUSA and integrating Core Plus Curriculum where applicable. The educator will foster a safe engaging and inclusive classroom environment while maintaining program equipment supervising assistants and preparing students for competitions and career pathways. Collaboration with staff parents and the community is essential to support student success and ensure alignment with industry standards.
Currently this position consists of four periods of CTE Agriculture/STEM and Construction with two periods of substitute teaching at Moses Lake High School until the program grows to a 1.0 FTE capacity.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CTE coaching and mentoring experience required.
- Knowledge of FFA and/or Skills USA equivalent student extra-curricular programs.
- Must be CTE certified or eligible for CTE certification and obtain credentials within 2 years: Agriculture STEM and Construction.
- Must be First Aid and CPR certified.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate andacceptable.
- ELL preferred.
- Ability andwillingness to work with Core Plus teach Agriculture-related classes and potentially Material Science.
DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES:
- Effectively communicate with students staff parents and community in English bothorally andin writing.
- Have a positive attitude and work cooperatively with others in a team approach toplanning and working with site-based decisions and management operations.
- Proficient in the workings of FFA and/or SkillsUSA and related events.
- Possessexcellent customer service skills.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Be a team player with strong leadership ability.
- Ability to operate and care for Agricultural equipment and ability to lift and carry objectsup to 50 pounds.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- Provide for the care and protection of school property.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction.
- Must be able to supervise an assistant.
- Demonstrate creativity in regard to program offerings.
- Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules andprocedures and enforcing classroom school and district rules and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a positive classroom environment conducive to participation and learning.
- Prepare for CTE SkillsUSA events forVanugard as needed.
- Ability to work with high school students on a one-on-one basis.
- Follow proper handling safety and inspection of equipment in accordance with State and Department standards.
- Keep facility neat clean and presentable to the public.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and reporting all problems toappropriate department in a timely manner.
- Keepcurrent with industry standards and work with local employers.
- Maintain accurate inventories and tracking of equipment and supplies.
- Be able to transport students on field trips and/or to competitions.
- Other duties as assigned.
