Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seekinganexperienced TLTSolid Waste Business Operational Technology SpecialisttoassessSolid Waste Operational Technology(OT) systems for reliability and supportability. This positionwillpartner withTransfer Stationstaff andthe OT Project Teamtoimprove the reliability of these systems and to ensure that all these systems aremaintainedand have supportplansin place.
As aSolid Waste Business Operational Technology Specialist you willwork on the project team to assess the state of everycomponentofTransfer StationOTsystemsand create a plan for recommendedchanges to improve system reliability. These analyses will include troubleshooting to uncover the root cause of past and current issues and failures. This candidate will also assess how each system ismaintainedand supported and will ensure support exists going forward.

Essential Duties for Solid Waste Transfer Station OT Enhancements Project:
- As the technology experts on the ground at the Transfer stations identify and analyze complex OT system issues and identify and document root causes.
- Assess and document end to end details of Transfer Station OT systemscomponentarchitectures and pinpoint areas for improvement or upgrade.
- Assess the maintenance plan and production support for each Transfer Station OT system.Identifyand resolve gaps to ensure that each system has support in place and will be assigned to andmaintainedby permanent staff.
- Create a rotation of regular visual checks of transfer station equipment and systems that can be assigned to permanent staff.
- Troubleshoot complex on-call issues when they occur to restore service anddetermineroot cause. Use this information todeterminemaintenance and system support needs to be carried out by operations staff going forward.
- Improve system availability and reliability through a data-driven approach. Develop an automated reliability and system health measures dashboard to assure system availability going forward.
- Create an accessible and current list of support contacts (i.e. experts from vendors consultants SPU resources etc.) for each system.
- Recommend and implement Transfer Station OT system upgrades architectural configuration changes and hardware improvements.
- Establish a process and cadence to perform regular security audits for user access for all transfer station OT systems and remote access.
- Update service-level agreements and contracts renewals for vendors and consultants with respect to service and response times.

Experience:Three(3)years of experience in Information Technology or related work of similar scope and nature in a mid-large scale complex organization including experience with hardware deployment configuration troubleshootingOperational Technologysystemsandasset tracking.Familiarization with Transfer Station Operations is a plus.
Education:Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technologyor a relatedtechnicalfield
Combinations ofappropriate education training certification and experience(s) will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.
Desired Qualifications:- Hardware expertise:Experience with deployment configuration troubleshooting andoperational technologysystems in medium to large organizations.
- Technicalproficiency:Knowledge of Windows 10/11 networking principlestroubleshooting complex systemsMicrosoft Office 365.
- Project experience:Familiarity withdiagnosing rootcausefor complex systems issues.
- Communication skills:Strong customer service abilities andcommunications skills.
- Growth potential:Demonstratedinterest in expanding technical skills and taking on increasing responsibility in IT support roles.

The full salary range for this position is $52.63 per hour - $79.00 per hour.
Workplace Environment/Expectation:- These TLTSolid Waste Business Operational Technology Specialistswork on-site five (5) days per week
- These positions will have an on-call responsibility at night for the South Transfer Station. Since the station is not staffed but is open for commercial traffic 24X7 they will be expected to support either virtually or on-siteas required.
