Range Explanation:

  • Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience education licenses training and internal equity.

  • Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.

THIS IS A RECURRING GRANT-FUNDED POSITION ENDING IN JUNE 2027.

The Community and Workforce Business Services Specialist II offers the opportunity to meet network and build stakeholder relationships with local employers to connect their workforce needs to skilled job seekers. This grant funded position participates in activities to market Pima County One Stop (PCOS) employment services and programs to assist customers with gaining initial employment or re-employment. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between PCOS and community agencies that provide workforce training and resources.

Essential Functions:


As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act this classification may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class. Work assignments may vary depending on the departments need and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.

  • Participates in the day-to-day operational and support activities of a specialized complex functional program or work unit within the Community & Workforce Development Department;

  • Provides direct services urgently and compassionately to Community & Workforce Development clients which may include working with clients via phone email online or in person including collaboration with other agencies and organizations to maximize resources and services;

  • Assesses the needs of community members and provides guidance on appropriate resources based on individual needs;

  • Matches qualified candidates with resources coaching or support related to employment education or financial assistance;

  • Represents the program or work unit at community events and in meetings with County personnel and/or community partners;

  • Provides administrative and other support essential to the completion of program or work unit objectives including mentoring and leading staff and volunteers in specialized program activities;

  • Provides input to management in the development of program goals and objectives;

  • Manages and maintains accurate records of program participants and their progress;

  • Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Community & Workforce Development Department and Pima County.


Minimum Qualifications:


Associates degree from an accredited college university or technical school in management public or business administration or a field related as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of professional experience in health customer service human services or a closely related field.


OR:


One year of experience with Pima County as a Community and Workforce Specialist I or similar Pima County position as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with workforce development programs advocacy and activities related to business industries community agencies government entities and job seekers.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience conducting outreach and developing and maintaining a customer database.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a business environment and a demonstrated working knowledge of business operations.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with public speaking and presentations in a professional environment.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel PowerPoint and Word.

Selection Process:

Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be as part of the selection process.

Supplemental Information:

Licenses and Certificates:Valid driver license is at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Any offer of employment resulting from this recruitment is contingent upon Fleet Services review and approval of the candidates driving record.


Special Notice Items: Some positions may require completion of a satisfactory personal background investigation by the court or law enforcement agencies due to the need for access to County Attorney and Court facilities records and communication systems. The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County.
