PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring Salary for this position is $70080 - $87600 annually.

The Crime Analyst identifies crime patterns and trends identify collect collect and evaluate case information and intelligence in order to conduct research that assist police with the apprehension of offenders clearance of cases and suppression or prevention of further criminal activity.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports a highly motivated district that requires periods of high demands and meeting deadlines
Conducts research on district crime
Analyzes and interprets crime data and applies statistical methodologies to identify trends patterns and series
Makes recommendations projections and forecasts based on research and analysis
Conducts intelligence analysis to identify players associates and associations
Produces visual presentation aids and participates in internal and external law enforcement problem solving strategy meetings
Monitors criminal activity to determine suppression and /or displacement of crime
Responds to inter and intradepartmental requests for information and disseminates products accordingly
Extracts data from a variety of computer systems
Prepares detailed statistical reports and research findings
Performs additional duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge skills and abilities may be considered.
Education:
Associate degreein Criminal Justice Criminology or directly related field with courses in research statistics and crime analysis
Experience:
Two (2)years of experience as a research or crime analyst
Licenses and Certifications:
None
Preferred Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Criminology or directly related field
Three (3) years of experience as a research or crime analyst
Knowledge:
Knowledge of tactical analytical skills; and crime analysis and criminal justice functions related to police department practices and procedures.
Familiarity with intelligence software such as I2
Knowledge of database querying software such as SQL preferred
Knowledge of Open Source Intelligence such as but not limited to Facebook Snapchat and Instagram
Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Make presentations and accurately analyze data
Skills:
Skill in the use of personal computers and databases Microsoft Access Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook
GIS mapping software and intelligence software
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift 10 pounds with or without assistance
Occasional lifting carrying walking and standing
Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment
Vision for reading recording and interpreting information
Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
Essential duties performed primarily in an indoor office public area setting
Equipment Used:
Frequently uses computer keyboard and telephone fax machines copiers and microfilm equipment
This position may require the incumbent to use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle cell phone tools etc.) in the course of their employment
