Duties and Responsibilities (* denotes essential functions):
*Provides technical advice and assists in problem resolution with internal Academic Development Technology (ADT) staff for software production management and maintenance.
*Under the guidance of higher level professionals assists in the creation development customization and design of all new departmental system application software.
*Assists in problem resolution and technical support and trains end-users in the navigation of registration scholarship and report management software.
*Works with the software development team to identify and implement ongoing improvements to projects based on strategic initiatives.
*Monitors and provides feedback on the consistency of web design parameters in applications style guides and visual standards to meet web standards for higher education.
*Processes and utilizes functional and technical feedback for departmental web applications in a timely manner to ensure data is displayed accurately and software functions as intended.
*Work closely with appropriate parties to ensure security measures are in place to restrict access to authorized users.
*Assists in the development of training materials for applicable scheduling scholarship and report management web applications.
*Assist in testing of Microsoft SQL Server including queries stored procedures and triggers.
*Keeps abreast of advances in information technology for student registration applications programming language and server technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate educational degree in Information and Computer Science (ICS) or related field and 2 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for software development; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
Functional knowledge of software development demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply principles concepts methodology and terminology.
Functional knowledge and understanding of technology systems hardware and software associated with software development.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems identify possible causes and resolve routine problems in the area of software development.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability with Microsoft SQL Server.
Working knowledge of database performance tuning and trouble-shooting.
Knowledge and experience with student registration processes in higher education.
Knowledge of FERPA and applicable student privacy practices and laws
Knowledge of usability concepts and disability requirements for web-based applications.
Demonstrated ability to speak read comprehend interpret and write fluently in English.
Ability to work outside normally scheduled work hours including day night weekend and/or holiday hours as directed.
Desirable Qualifications:
Demonstrated knowledge of STAR software development including Balance Academic Logic Giving Tree Scholarship Set Up and Access Userve and STAR GPS.
Working knowledge of set up and access with Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
Working knowledge of MS SQL server Management and SQL server agent including knowledge of both systems and how they work together.
Working knowledge of reports server and volunteer matching software.
Knowledge and experience with University of Hawaii student registration processes.
