Description

The Battle Creek Police Department is looking for an individual to assist the Victim Services Coordinator with administrative support for victim services and in collecting coordinating and reporting data on incidents involving victims of Part 1 crimes. Coordinate community education efforts and creation of training curriculum representing the Battle Creek Police Departments Victim Services Unit in a variety of professional settings.

Examples of Duties

  • Ability to effectively communicate with partners and stakeholders representing BCPDs Victim Services Unit in both professional and community settings
  • Collaborate with Victim Services Coordinator to create training curriculum addressing the importance of victim rights
  • Work with Victim Services Coordinator to design analyze and evaluate programming/training efficacy
  • Create and maintain case files for the Victim Services Unit following direct training in Victim Services Tracking (VST)/ The Advocate Advantage (TAA) software
  • Collect and maintain data on victim services with community-based and systems-based partners
  • Coordinate with the Prosecuting Attorneys Office to ensure the timely communication of court dates for hearings
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in social sciences criminal justice or related field; Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of related experience in community education professional training and/or program development.
Special Requirements:
  • Valid drivers license in the State of Michigan.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain an NVAA Certification Provisional-Level within one year of hiring date.

Supplemental Information

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Standard office setting and field environment. This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 14 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting bending reaching hand dexterity (grasping holding keyboarding repetitive movements) reading writing eye-hand coordination seeing (near and/or far color depth field of vision) hearing using the telephone contact with government officials and the general public.
