Job Summary
The Associate Director of the Legacy Scholars Program is responsible for recruiting prospective students supporting current participants and promoting student retention and success within the program. Reporting directly to the Director Legacy Scholars Program this position plays a key role in the execution of program initiatives and projects. The Associate Director collaborates regularly with Midland College faculty and staff nonprofit partners and program funders to foster strong community relationships and ensure alignment with program goals. This role is critical in guiding students through their academic and leadership development while advancing the mission of the Legacy Scholars Program.
Essential Functions
Recruits future Legacy Scholars Program students through presentations and one-on-one interactions such as meetings phone calls and emails Assists potential students with application process and onboarding Evaluates program eligibility for students each semester Collects and reports program data under the supervision of the Director Supports students by coordinating with other college departments such as Student Services Instruction C3 and STRIVE Coaches Provide assistance to students and nonprofit agencies using the Chap Volunteers platform including support for volunteer hour tracking opportunity searching and technical assistance Connect students with campus resources and community agencies and guide them through various college processes to ensure academic progress Leads students through Students in Philanthropy curriculum as part of the Legacy Scholars Program Handles time-sensitive and detail-oriented tasks in a fast-paced work environment Supports and assists the Director Legacy Scholars Program for a variety of event coordination meeting preparation and special projects Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus This position may require occasional travel for training meetings and events both in and out of town Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds Duties indoors and some outdoors Availability on some evenings and weekends for student/parent presentations special student activities and Midland College events
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree Two years of related experience Strong organizational customer service and written and verbal communication skills Ability to collaborate with students of diverse socioeconomic ethnic and cultural backgrounds Computer literacy including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Must possess a valid Texas Drivers License a good driving record and be insurable on Midland Colleges insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in secondary or post-secondary education Experience volunteering or working for nonprofit organizations Supervisory experience Experience handling confidential information such as student academic records income verification and other sensitive data Critical thinking analytical and problem-solving skills to assess information and implement effective solutions Ability to work in a team environment with multiple sometimes changing priorities Ability to interact with faculty staff program funders students and parents in a professional manner Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize to meet established deadlines Ability to develop engaging instructional materials manage diverse classrooms and support student success
