The Alaska Department of Corrections Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Dental Assistant in Anchorage/Mat-Su Valley.

Assists Dentist chairside using four-handed dentistry imaging capture and recording of acquired data in an electronic health record. Clean up after the last patient and prepare for the next patient in a safe clean professional manner. Responsible for inventory routine testing and patient coordination. Five days a week approximately 7:30 - 3:30 pm although this varies considerably with the travel. This position requires in state travel with travel compensation provided depending on clinical location.

Theworking environment you can expect:

This position provides medically essential dental care to male or female patients in Anchorage Eagle River Palmer and Kenai depending on departmental needs.

A Correctional officer may escort the prisoner to and from the dental clinic and may be present during procedures depending on the inmate security classification or concern from staff.

We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:

  • Medicine and Dentistry: Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of injuries diseases and deformities including preventive health-care measures.
  • Technology Application: Uses machines tools instruments or equipment effectively; uses computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format.
  • Team Building: Inspires and fosters team commitment spirit pride and trust. Facilitates cooperation and motivates team members to accomplish group goals.
  • Health Physics: Knowledge of the concepts principles theories and methods pertaining to the protection of people their environment and equipment from hazards (for example radiation or hazardous chemicals) and the control of radioactive material.
  • Public Health: Applies knowledge of the concepts principles theories methods and tools associated with protecting and improving the health of people and their communities including promoting healthy lifestyles researching disease and/or injury prevention and/or detecting preventing and responding to infectious diseases.

Minimum Qualifications


On-the-job training in dental operation or service assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed Dentist will be provided during the probationary period.

Positions require the successful applicant to pass a criminal background investigation including fingerprinting as a prerequisite to employment. Compliance with infectious disease prevention regulations including mandatory Hepatitis B vaccination is also required. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

EDUCATION

If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications you must fill in the Education section of the application. PREA NOTIFICATION
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including but not limited to Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has beenconvicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.

All Department of Corrections employees are required to be fingerprinted. The successful candidate must pass a criminal history check.

DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIREMENT
Applicants must possess a valid drivers license. Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
