With bases in Bethel Emmonak Dillingham King Salmon Cold Bay Dutch Harbor Kenai and Anchorage Grant Aviation provides scheduled air transport of passengers cargo and mail as well as air ambulance and charter service. POSITION: Cargo Agent


Grant Aviation is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cargo Agent to support warehouse and freight operations at our Bethel station. This entry-level role is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of bypass mail general freight and cargo in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The Cargo Agent plays a key part in load staging mail sorting forklift operations and customer service while maintaining accurate documentation and assisting with cargo office duties.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Book and tag freight and bypass mail in the internal cargo system.
  • Sort incoming mail and freight for distribution or outgoing staging.
  • Ensure proper acceptance labeling and documentation of shipments.
  • Maintain and update the Mail on Hand (MOH) report daily.
  • Track mail and freight in the Mail and Bypass Receiving Log ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
  • Prepare and stage cargo according to flight schedules and aircraft weight and balance requirements.
  • Coordinate with cargo leads and dispatch to prioritize outgoing loads.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment within the cargo facility for loading and warehouse organization.
  • Assist dispatch with cargo verification to ensure accurate manifests.
  • Communicate load status and irregularities to dispatch leads and flight crews as needed.
  • Identify label and handle hazardous materials in compliance with TSA and FAA regulations.
  • Complete required HAZMAT training and maintain currency.
  • Assist in the cargo office with customer drop-offs pickups and inquiries.
  • Provide timely and professional updates to customers and internal stakeholders regarding shipments.
  • Keep the warehouse clean organized and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures including PPE use secure cargo storage and emergency response protocols.
  • Work closely with cargo leads fellow agents dispatchers and ramp staff to maintain smooth operations.
  • Participate in team briefings shift handovers and training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Cargo Agent Supervisor or Lead.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in cargo logistics or warehouse operations is preferred but not required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid Alaska drivers license required.
  • Ability to pass a 10-year background check and meet airport security requirements.
  • Completion of HAZMAT training within 30 days of hire.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Ability to lift and move:
    • 0-30 lbs. (30% of the time)
    • 30-50 lbs. (50% of the time)
    • 50 lbs. (20% of the time)
  • Comfortable working in varying weather conditions including rain snow and wind.
  • Strong attention to detail communication skills and a team-first attitude.
  • Proficient in basic computer use; experience with booking or dispatch systems is a plus.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:

  • Flexible schedules based on operational needs may include mornings evenings weekends and holidays.
  • Work is performed indoors in the warehouse and freight office and outdoors on the aircraft ramp.
  • Frequent standing bending lifting and moving throughout the shift.
  • A four-day ten-hour shift schedule
