Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Spiritual Care the Chaplain will assist residents in their lifelong religious and/or spiritual practices as their functional needs require. Provide spiritual counsel encouragement and support to residents family members and staff. Follow policies and procedures of Meighen Health Centre to ensure that the importance of holistic care to the residents is carried out.
Accountabilities:
Spiritual Care
- Engage with other chaplain(s) and Director of Spiritual Care as a team member and attend team meetings as scheduled.
- Provide spiritual support to residents family members and staff in times of grief illness etc.
- Participate in on call schedule and Worship Services
- Complete Care Plans and Spiritual Care Assessments of new residents and RAI updates
- Facilitate contact with residents faith groups as needed
- Regularly visit all residents and complete required updates to charting and care plans using Point Click Care
- Conduct various Spiritual Programming as scheduled
- Prepare and document care conferences on assigned days
- Update and enter statistics for visitation deaths assessments appropriate files
- Facilitate Resident engagement in Spiritual programming
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director of Spiritual Care

- Participate fully and constructively in staff meetings and in service training
- Complete all Surge learning
- Engage in formal evaluation sessions with supervisor at regular intervals during the first year of employment and annually thereafter

- Is alert to remedies or promptly reports all actual or potential hazardous situations to appropriate personnel

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- This role has no formal financial expenditure or budgetary authority
- This role is expected to use organizational assets and resources in accordance with guidelines
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working environment is in the office and with residents in the LTC Home and Retirement Residence
- Work requires regular use of a computer
- Have periods of sitting and/or standing but has freedom and choice of regular movement (changing positions stretching going for a break) as necessary
- Support residents families and/or staff members during emotional stressful or challenging periods
- Required to follow Infection Prevention and Control requirements and wear Personal Protective Equipment when instructed and/or posted

education and experience Qualifications:
Education Qualifications and Certifications:
- Completion of High School
- Training and or experience in Multi-Faith programming
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Chaplaincy or other related fields is an asset
- First Aid/CPR Certification would be an asset
- Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications safe internet use and Point Click Care
- Experience in Long Term Care/Healthcare is ideal
- Ability to work cooperatively in relationship with the interdisciplinary team

- Ability to work independently and be a self-starter demonstrating consistent sound judgement in the face of ambiguity

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $26.78 to $33.47 with a maximum of $40.16.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
