Summary of Job Duties:
The University of Arkansas Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering is seeking applicants for a professor in Biosensing Engineering. This is a 9-month 100% appointed tenure-track position that will be 75% research (University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture) and 25% Teaching (University of Arkansas College of Engineering). This faculty member will work in partnership with other faculty members across the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture state and national partners and stakeholders on local-to-global challenges in biosensing with a particular emphasis in food safety. This position carries with it the Tyson Endowed Chair for Biosensing an endowment that generates significant annual funding to support the research program. Duties will include developing a nationally recognized research program teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in general engineering and the instructors area of focus contributing service to the profession and community and mentoring graduate students. Tenure will accrue in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. The faculty member will actively seek project support to leverage existing areas of expertise within the University of Arkansas system to promote their program.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- A doctorate from an accredited university in agricultural biological ecological civil environmental engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
- Evidence of experience in biosensing engineering with an emphasis in food safety poultry safety and/or other biologically beneficial outcomes.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication interpersonal relationships and procurement of extramural funding.
- Productivity and career accomplishments commensurate with the rank of professor.
- Strong teaching expertise across the Biological Engineering curriculum.
- Demonstrated understanding of the mission of the Land-Grant system.
- Commitment to the University of Arkansas Core Values of Curiosity Character Creativity and Our Shared Humanity ( Qualifications:
- Leadership involvement in professional societies or other entities related to the discipline.
- Experience in poultry and/or food safety engineering.
- Current professional engineering license or evidence of eligibility to become licensed.
