What you will do forHarris County Precinct 4 (HCP4)

Harris County Precinct 4 is looking for a dynamic and community-focused Transportation Manager to oversee the operations of its bus program. This leadership position involves managing daily trips and the utilization of the buses ensuring that all passengers receive the highest level of service and excellence.

The ideal candidate will coordinate and supervise daily bus operations oversee the scheduling and training required for the team of bus drivers and maintain a collaborative relationship with Precinct 4s partners.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.
    • Supervise coach and support bus drivers to ensure high performance and excellent customer service.
    • Enforce Precinct 4 Transportation policies and procedures.
    • Schedule bus drivers work assignments plan and establish transportation routes review trip schedules and bus operations to meet trip demands.
    • Be available on a rotating basis during weekend and night shifts as the point of contact for bus drivers to resolve mechanical trip or passenger problems.
    • Confer with leadership trip coordinators constituents and vehicle maintenance department to exchange transportation information and resolve problems.
    • Maintain and verify records of time materials expenditures andincidents.
    • Determine and recommend measures to improve worker motivation equipment performance work methods and customer services.
    • Prepare compile and submit monthly reports to the department director on work activities and operations.
    • Recommend and carry out personnel actions such as employee evaluations and disciplinary actions.
    • Requisition needed personnel supplies equipment parts or repair services.
    • Schedule repairs and preventive maintenance of buses and other equipment; provide supervisor with quarterly report of maintenance and service schedule.
    • In the event of an emergency follow precinct policies and procedures to notify and dispatch appropriate personnel and vehicles to respond appropriately.
    • When necessary drive buses to complete work assignments and maintenance functions to assist bus drivers.
    • Must attend required training including CPR AED and First Aid training bus evacuation training and staff development training. Must also complete requirements to maintain a CDL driver license including physicals.
    • This position requires participation in a rotating on-call schedule for weekends and after-hours support. The Transportation Manager must be available to coordinate or dispatch a rescue bus in the event of vehicle breakdowns or other service interruptions during trips.
    • Be available to work before during or after emergencies or disasters as required by the department.
    • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Knowledgeable of driving safety practices traffic laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrates a professional and positive representation of Commissioner Precinct 4 through appearance conduct and public interactions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and accept direction as needed.
  • Ability to drive a bus for extended periods of time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and hospitality skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Demonstrates integrity dependability respect adaptability and a strong work ethic.
