Job Description Summary

The Engineering Technical Leader demonstrates accountability for functional business and broad company objectives. This is a leadership position that integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization and requires long-term planning. This role contributes to the overall strategy of the business and manages complex issues within the Chemistry Engineering area.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for Chemistry team activities that support GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) spanning the entire GVH portfolio of existing fleet and new plant reactor support.
  • You will be responsible for driving GVHs SQDC (Safety Quality Delivery Cost) standards and all Environmental Health and Safety activities/requirements related to the team including office setting laboratory environment and site support at NPP.
  • Provide technical leadership for a team of Engineers and Chemists in support of development delivery and defense of products related to plant Chemistry.
  • Lead the Chemistry Engineering team including development needs resource planning and resource assignment for services projects.
  • Serve as delegated Engineering Manager when needed.
  • Plan / develop technical and management processes to improve both team and customer productivity.
  • Provide support to Bid Management to ensure that executable bids are proposed.
  • Liaise with customers either on or off site as necessary in partnership with a Project Manager.
  • Be responsible for analysis and design work supporting requirements specifications.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and departments to complete these tasks.
  • Improve areas of project execution and department management through Six Sigma methodology.
  • Implement a system to authorize provide and control technical information including instructions and advise all personnel.
  • Support development efforts for both new products and new technology.
  • Be responsible to undertake the necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality non-compliance monitoring and audit programs.
  • Be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Action Work Outs (LAWO).
  • Creating maintaining and reporting out on schedules and workplans

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Chemical Engineering Preferred) from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Chemistry or Chemistry related activities.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on BWR reactors.

  • The required work location is our facility in San Jose CA (Relocation assistance provided)
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of BWR chemistry issues.
  • Masters degree or PhD in an engineering or technical discipline.
  • Experience managing highly technical and diverse Engineering teams and functions.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated people management and motivation skills.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear).
  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g. NQA-1 and ISO 9000).
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Prior experience in project delivery and working within a matrix environment.
  • Strong customer mindset.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in support of conferences and business meetings.
  • Strong external focus; clear and demonstrated understanding of nuclear industry and/or energy industrywith occasional travel to customer sites.
  • Experience working with radioactive material in radiologically controlled areas.
  • Demonstrated people management and motivation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

The base pay range for this position is $112000 to $160000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on Tuesday August 5th.

The company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
