The Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Sculpture and Extended Media is establishing a pool of applicants for possible adjunct teaching positions. The Department of Sculpture Extended Media will consult the adjunct applicant pool and contact qualified applicants whose credentials match our specific teaching needs on an as-needed basis. This pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity arises.
Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by Sculpture Extended Media. A link to art foundation course descriptions from VCUs Undergraduate Bulletin can be found at If an opportunity becomes available only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for Department of Sculpture Extended Media and have a desire to work with a diverse student population from various backgrounds and experiences in a collaborative and learning-centered community of other adjunct instructors students faculty and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Terminal degree (MFA) in a related field or BFAwith additional training and/or professional experience that equates and/orparallels the artistic development expected in a terminal degree holder.
Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation andcommunication skills.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering anenvironment of respect professionalism and civility with a population offaculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
