Database Architect
We are seeking a Senior Database Architect with over 10 years of hands-on
experience in designing optimising and managing complex database
ecosystems across SQL NoSQL ColumnStores NewSQL and cloud-native
DBaaS/serverless platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in
PostgreSQL MSSQL Oracle ClickHouse MongoDB Cassandra Redis
Valkey Amazon RedShift with a focus on scalability reliability and Data security.
Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Engineering
Design and implement high-performance scalable database architectures for transactional and analytical workloads.
Architect hybrid solutions integrating on-premises cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and serverless databases.
Develop data models (logical/physical) for relational NoSQL and distributed systems.
Performance Optimization & SQL Engineering
Optimize SQL queries indexing strategies and schema designs for latency-sensitive applications.
Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks using monitoring tools (Prometheus Grafana) and tuning methodologies.
Implement partitioning sharding and caching (Redis/Valkey) for petabyte-scale datasets.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery
Design HA/DR strategies including replication (Galera Cluster MongoDB Atlas) failover automation and multi-region deployments.
Configure backup solutions (physical/logical) and validate recovery procedures.
Cloud & DevOps Integration
Automate database provisioning scaling and updates using Terraform Ansible and Kubernetes.
Collaborate with SRE/DevOps teams to enforce CI/CD pipelines for schema changes and zero-downtime migrations.
Optimize cloud-native services (AWS RDS Aurora Google AlloyDB) for cost and performance.
Security & Compliance
Enforce encryption (TLS KMS) RBAC policies and audit trails aligned with GDPR/HIPAA.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and patch management for database ecosystems.
Mentorship & Leadership
Guide junior architects on best practices for data modeling and query optimization.
Document architectures incident postmortems and operational playbooks.
Required Qualifications
10 years of experience in database architecture engineering or SRE roles.
Expertise in PostgreSQL MSSQL Oracle ClickHouse and MongoDB internals (e.g. WAL vectorized execution).
Proficiency in SQL/NoSQL tuning data partitioning and distributed transaction management.
Hands-on experience with AWS/GCP/Azure database services (e.g. RedShift CloudSQL).
Strong scripting skills in Python Bash or Go for automation and tooling.
Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science Data Engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: AWS Certified Database Specialist MongoDB Certified Architect Google Cloud Database Engineer.
Contributions to open-source projects (e.g. PostgreSQL extensions ClickHouse optimizations).
Experience with time-series databases (InfluxDB) and vector databases (Milvus) for AI/ML workflows.
