Job Description

ABOUT WILLIAMS LAKE FIRST NATION (WLFN)



The Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN) or the Texelcemc (people of WLFN) have belonged to the Secwepemc (or Shuswap) Nation for over 6500 years. Today the WLFN community includes a growing population of over 800 registered members who live on reserve in Sugar Cane in nearby Williams Lake BC and across the globe.

POSITION

The Lands Assistant organizes and provides administrative support to the Lands Office. The Lands Assistant will also manage Lands & Environment projects as well as Lands Monitoring programs/projects. The Lands Assistant will report to the Lands Manager.



Employment Type

Term - September 2025 November 13th 2026 35 hours per week.

Probation Period

3 months from the date of hire.

Education Required

  • Degree or certificate/Diploma in Natural Resources Sciences or Environmental Management/Monitoring.

Experience Required

  • Three to five years of land & resource experience in a similar position or related experience.

Overtime Status

Non-exempt

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Coordinates and organizes Lands office filing and administrative tasks.
  2. Takes the lead in management of the Lands Registration registration of documents and organization of documents and ensuring all documents are properly saved and backed up.
  3. Compilation of Lands Manual documents and their organization.
  4. Takes the lead in developing a Land Monitoring program for all WLFN Lands.
  5. Consults and liaises with other lands & resources experts to share information and to potentially formulate joint special projects which would enhance the delivery of existing programs and services.
  6. Assists the Lands Manager in Lands Policy and Law Development.
  7. Participate in various community support council and committee meetings as requested.
  8. Organization of meetings catering taking minutes preparation of materials for meetings.
  9. Maintain open communications with the WLFN team.
  10. Supports the mission vision and values of Williams Lake First Nation.
  11. Contributes to the WLFNs ongoing success by accomplishing other duties as required or assigned.
