Job Description

Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for the strategic oversight management and continuous enhancement of the digital presence for over 40 Student Affairs departments encompassing more than 1000 web pages. This position plays a critical role in ensuring web content is visually cohesive accessible and aligned with university web and brand standards. The incumbent is the lead of all Student Affairs web pages leads the design implementation and maintenance of departmental websites manages QR code infrastructure and oversees both Google and website analytics to inform strategic decision-making and improve the user experience. This position also leads the development of SharePoint sites for department collaboration and manages the creation and deployment of digital surveys through Qualtrics. Serving as a digital accessibility advocate the role ensures that all content meets ADA and Section 508 compliance standards and collaborates closely with IT and campus partners to support web accessibility and user navigation including contributions to the interactive campus map. The position also provides training and support to departmental web content editors. This position requires a highly organized analytical and collaborative professional who can balance technical expertise with a strong understanding of audience engagement in a higher education environment.

The incumbent provides services that are equitable inclusive culturally sensitive to enhance the quality of campus life. The position uses a student-centered and equity-minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Web Development Management Support and Training: Serves as the primary administrator for all websites within Student Affairs and holds primary technical responsibility to develop and deploy static and dynamic web applications.
  • Other Digital Support Tools: Manages QR code infrastructure and short URL/URL redirects to support marketing and web access strategies.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Proficiency as a web developer application specialist or computer/technology analyst. Comprehensive working knowledge of client/server technologies particularly those involved with both static and dynamic online publishing. Working knowledge of webserver and database management. Comprehensive knowledge of networks and data communications systems. Production-level programming experience in designing and coding web components to support ongoing standards-based web accessibility development particularly in support of W3C standards for both ADA compliance and HTML5/CSS3 integration. Experience with designing deploying and maintaining mirrored and redundant server structures for stable dynamic publishing systems. Strong ability to work independently on technological projects and assignments Strong ability to pro-actively plan develop recommend and implement solutions for complex issues

Demonstrated success supervising and mentoring student staff in creative roles. Proven ability to create and manage accessible materials in compliance with ADA and WCAG.

Thorough knowledge and experience utilizing various software including MS Office Adobe Suite etc. Strong leadership and project management skills to be able to lead and complete projects. Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with others. Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs for marketing projects. Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and communicate clearly and effectively with students peers administrators campus and University personnel clients state officials vendors professionals management etc. Ability to make sound judgment and independent decisions. Working knowledge of standard safe work practices. Ability to work occasional weekends and or evenings as needed.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Educational Technology Communications or related technical field and two years of related experience required.

Experience with Drupal or web content management software preferred.

Physical Summary

Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing squatting kneeling or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.

Possession of a valid CA Drivers license to be able to drive University vehicle preferred.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education experience and qualifications the candidate brings to the position internal equity and the hiring departments fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $5158 - $7759 per month commensurate with candidates education experience skills and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5158 - $12730 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment
