The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) the states primary environmental regulator is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its next Chairperson of the EPA Board. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the EPA and contribute meaningfully to the protection and restoration of NSWs environment.
As Chairperson you will lead the EPA Board providing strategic guidance and expertise to ensure the EPAs strategic plans and policies are developed and implemented effectively while promoting the highest standards of corporate governance and advice to the Minister for the Environment and serve as a trusted thought partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
This role calls for an experienced Board Member able to support visionary and principled leadership for the environment and future generations. One who can work with Board members the CEO and stakeholders to support effective delivery of the EPAs statutory mandate to protect and restore environmental quality protect public health enable sustainable development and respond to urgent environmental challenges including climate change. You will chair board meetings inform long-term strategic planning oversee regulatory assurance compliance and criminal proceedings for serious environmental offences.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: environmental science or engineering environmental law corporate governance financial and risk management human health compliance and regulation Aboriginal cultural values stakeholder engagement and digital information and data management. You will demonstrate integrity strategic acumen and a commitment to sustainability and public service.
Personally you will embody resilience humility and a collaborative spirit with the ability to build authentic relationships across government industry First Nations communities and the broader public.
