PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Responsible for facilitating the efficient operation of the schools administrative office and for providing clerical services as needed for the schools administrative staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Secretarial/clerical training in a business/technical school or college preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient skills in typing word processing bookkeeping and file maintenance; ability to use personal computer and software; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to communicate in both English and Spanish preferred
Experience:
Three (3) years of secretarial/clerical experience preferably in a public school environment

Hourly Pay Range:
Minimum: $17.25
Midpoint: $20.66
Maximum: $24.07
Note:Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist principal in maintaining an efficiently operating school office.
2. Produce written correspondence and other documents.
3. Maintain proper files and records related to the administrative and clerical functions of the school.
4. Maintain inventory of school supplies mailing lists student records visitor logs and other office communication.
5. Assist students teachers and parents as needed.
6. Maintain a daily teacher attendance record and the work records of substitute teachers.
7. Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar for principal.
8. Submit work orders purchase orders and travel requisitions.
9. Maintain and manage the school activity budgets and keep accounting records current.
10. Attend required campus or district training sessions.
11. Assist other office staff as appropriate (answer phones administer medication to students etc.)
12. Prepare all time sheets and payroll reports.
13. Maintain discretion and confidentiality.
14. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
15. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands:
Reading; ability to perform basic computations; maintain emotional control under stress working with frequent interruptions.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; occasionally lift and or move up to 45 pounds and over.
