Job Description Summary
The Director of Value-Based Care (VBC) Network will report to the System Chief of Population Health with dotted-line reporting to the System Affiliations Officer and will coordinate MUSC Healths efforts in value-based contracting. The Director will provide leadership and direction in the development and execution of commercial government and direct to employer value networks and models.

Job Description
Specific responsibilities will include:
Network Adequacy and Growth
- Develop and manage provider networks to ensure network adequacy in conjunction with MUSC Health priorities for all lines of business (Commercial Medicare and Medicaid)
- Create the desire to join MUSC Health networks. Work with payers and direct-to-business partners to explore development and management of new value-based products and business opportunities. Identify and secure high-value providers including community hospitals physician practices FQHCs and other office/clinic providers of care to participate in MUSC Health Alliance and MUSC Health networks for VBC programs such as narrow network health plans MUSC Health Plan accountable care organizations and other alternate payment models
- Collaborate with payers regarding network credentialling. Leverage knowledge and insights of existing MUSC Health affiliates and network participants
Population Health and Management Services
- Develop the ability to provision Population Health and Management services to affiliated health systems and provider groups
Network Relations
- Serve as a liaison between third party organizations/practices and MUSC Health to support quality performance improvement and financial success in value-based care and MUSC Business Health programs as appropriate
- Cultivate in-depth relationships with practices and partners including regular status calls and in-person meetings to set strategic priorities report results and monitor direct costs ultimately to drive shared savings and identify opportunities for growth
- Facilitate and serve as a primary point of contact for MUSC Healths participation in networks of clinical-integrated networks
- Establish and communicate expectations to non-MUSC Health participants inclusive of regular performance dashboard review
- Engage and collaborate with partner organizations on methods and best practices of identifying and improving patient health outcomes patient satisfaction and operational efficiencies within the value model
- Facilitate the bi-directional communication of clinical and operational data in support of care coordination clinical care and quality measurement. Problem- solve relationship issues Assure that relationships meet program goals and legal and regulatory requirements
Leadership and Collaboration
- Support as lead staffer Population Health and Health Alliance Affiliations Committee and Committee Chair
- Supports senior leadership network committees and Boards by preparing meeting materials ensuring efficient communication of network activities and performance and prioritizing key information necessary for the effective operation of the committees and Boards
- Collaborate with Population Health Health Alliance and other MUSC Health leaders to create success in value-based care clinical integration and system strategies and goals
- Successfully execute project management for developing and evolving programs; maintain budgetary discipline
- Liaise with MUSC Health Affiliations Department and functions to include
- Serve as a brand ambassador for MUSC Health and advocate for successful strategies to address Population Health Transformation
- Other duties as assigned
Job Scope and Span
- Impact to System goals and strategies is high with frequent engagements and discussions with System CEO and senior executives.
- Responsibility is system-wide and requires substantial engagement with non-MUSC health systems and physician groups.
- Leadership is through influence and persuasion with limited if any direct reports. Leadership will result in alignment and collaboration with non-MUSC organizations in complex systems of care that meet regulatory and legal requirements.
Additional Job Description
Education: Masters degree from an accredited college/university in Health Administration Business Administration or related field and five years experience in healthcare administration required.
Work Experience: Experience in project management and a detailed knowledge of Integrated Health Systems population health and value-based networks is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams including building teams that comprise a range of providers and healthcare administrators; have the ability to establish and enforce deadlines; possess the demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with others as well as ability to translate visionary concepts into well-defined goals timelines and expected outcomes.
