  • JOB SUMMARY:
    Under general supervision maintain the operation of a computer lab; instruct students and staff in the use of computer lab technology and software applications; and monitor students activities in the computer addition to perform a variety of follow-up instructional activities; to perform a variety of routine clerical and supportive activities for instructional personnel; and to do other related work as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Elementary teaching certification preferred.
    2. High School diploma with passing score on ParaPro Assessment 48 college credits or an Associates degree required
    3. Familiarity with standard computer equipment software and applications found in a school computer lab
    4. Appropriate English usage punctuation spelling and grammar.
    5. Routine record storage retrieval and management procedures.
    6. Demonstrate an understanding patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups particularly those exhibiting specialized needs.
    7. Appropriately manage student behavior and guide student toward more acceptable social behaviors.
    8. Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
    9. Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
    10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    11. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Instructs students and teachers in computer lab technology and software applications (e.g. answers questions keyboarding reading/math specialized programs etc.) for the purpose of enhancing their understanding of lab operations and reinforcing academic concepts.
    2. Coordinates scheduling of students and teachers for the purpose of maintaining computer lab operations and activities.
    3. Maintains computer hardware and software applications inventory for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment and/or instructional material in computer lab.
    4. Maintains computer lab (e.g. instructional materials appropriate software sets up materials for daily activities etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment and programs to enhance the instructional program.
    5. Monitors student activities while in computer lab for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment that is conducive to learning.
    6. Performs routine and preventive maintenance of computer lab and classroom equipment (e.g. dusting cleaning virus scanning creating/clearing Internet bookmarks defragmenting etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
    7. Prepares documentation (e.g. reports instructions memos etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
    8. Troubleshoots malfunctions of hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer lab operations.
    9. Helps maintain an attractive neat and safe classroom.
    10. Work directly with students to review or reinforce skills taught in the classroom. Implement strategies that enhance student performance and behavior.
    11. Use established reinforcement techniques and appropriate discipline in responding to students behavior.
    12. Other duties as assigned.

    PAY AND HOURS:
    Placement on the Queen Annes County Support Salary Schedule is commensurate with experience and preparation. This is a 10 month position with a minimum of 35 hours per week.
