The role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic tax professional to lead our US tax operations SEC reporting and compliance functions. Reporting directly to the Global Head of Tax this pivotal role will be responsible for setting US tax strategy driving tax forecasting and modeling initiatives and ensuring comprehensive tax compliance and optimization across the organization. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader collaborating extensively with cross-functional teams to integrate tax considerations into business decisions and foster a culture of excellence within the tax department.
What youll do:
- Strategic Tax Leadership:
- Develop articulate and execute the overall US tax strategy in alignment with the companys global tax objectives and overarching business strategy.
- Identify analyze and implement strategic US tax planning opportunities to optimize the companys tax position while ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws.
- Proactively monitor and analyze proposed and enacted US tax legislation regulatory changes and judicial developments assessing their impact on the company and recommending strategic adjustments.
- US Tax Operations & Compliance:
- Oversee and manage the accurate and timely preparation and filing of all US federal state and local income/franchise tax returns estimates and extensions ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Lead and drive tax compliance transformation initiatives leveraging technology and process improvements to enhance efficiency accuracy and scalability of US tax operations.
- Manage and lead all US federal state and local tax audits and inquiries developing effective audit defense strategies and negotiating resolutions.
- Tax Accounting & SEC Reporting (ASC 740):
- Provide oversight and strategic direction for the accurate and timely preparation and review of the global tax provision (ASC 740) for SEC reporting purposes including related financial statement disclosures.
- Establish maintain and continuously improve robust SOX 404 tax accounting controls ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
- Tax Forecasting & Modeling:
- Lead the US tax forecasting process providing accurate and timely projections of effective tax rates cash taxes and tax-related financial metrics.
- Develop and implement sophisticated tax modeling capabilities to analyze the tax implications of various business initiatives legislative changes and strategic alternatives.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Business Partnership:
- Serve as a tax liaison and strategic partner to various internal departments including Finance (CFO FinLeads FP&A) Accounting (Controller Accounting Operations) Legal Human Resources (compensation benefits) Treasury and Business Units.
- Provide expert tax advice and ensure tax considerations are integrated into business decisions and processes across the organization.
- Communicate complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-tax professionals and senior leadership.
- Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):
- Lead the tax due diligence and integration efforts for mergers acquisitions and divestitures assessing tax implications and structuring transactions efficiently.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead mentor and develop a high-performing US tax team fostering a culture of continuous learning collaboration and excellence.
- Manage team performance provide coaching and support professional growth.
- Technical Expertise:
- Provide expert technical tax guidance and thought leadership on complex US tax matters preparing comprehensive technical memorandums to support tax positions and advising senior leadership.
What youll need:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field required. Master of Science in Taxation (MST) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Experience: 10-15 years of progressive corporate tax experience with a portion in a leadership role within a multinational public company or a large public accounting firm serving multinational clients.
- Technical Skills:
- Deep expertise in ASC 740 principles and SEC reporting requirements for income taxes.
- Extensive knowledge of US federal state and local income/franchise tax laws and regulations.
- Proven experience with international and multistate tax issues.
- Proficiency with tax technology solutions (e.g. OneSource Tax Provision) and financial modeling tools (e.g. Alteryx Power BI Tableau).
- Leadership & Management:
- Proven leadership and team management experience with a track record of building developing and mentoring high-performing tax professionals.
- Exceptional ability to lead and drive complex projects to successful completion in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strategic & Analytical Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically analyze complex tax issues and develop practical business-oriented solutions.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex tax concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences including senior executives and non-tax professionals.
