Job Description
Respiratory Therapist ICU (Permanent Role)
Location: Plano TX 75093
Shift: 12 HR Nights 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: (12 hours/week)
Compensation: Based on experience (Negotiable)
- Provide respiratory care services: oxygen therapy aerosol therapy inhaled meds airway clearance and mechanical ventilation.
- Perform bedside spirometry and follow protocols to ensure high-quality care.
- Respond to emergencies with CPR; review physician orders and adjust therapy as needed.
- Execute physician-approved protocols and manage therapies in a high-acuity ICU setting.
- Educate patients on equipment use and monitor response to treatment.
- Accurately document treatments and report therapy outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with infection control HIPAA attendance and social media policies.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare teams and maintain up-to-date certifications.
- Support continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Solid understanding of respiratory care modalities medications and equipment.
- Ability to interpret and follow clinical protocols and flowcharts.
- Strong performance under pressure and in high-acuity situations.
- Effective critical thinking and clinical problem-solving skills.
- Competency in using EMRs and general computer applications (e.g. data entry scanning email).
- Education: Associates degree or 2 years of relevant work experience beyond minimum qualification.
- Experience: Less than 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP): Licensed in Texas.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT): Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
