Now Hiring: Plant Manager / Shredder Maintenance Manager
Location: Weitsman Recycling - Owego NY
Employment Type: Full-Time On-Site
Salary: $80000 - $110000 per year (based on experience) Weekly Pay Full Benefits
Weitsman Recycling a leader in the scrap metal and recycling industry is seeking a skilled and driven Plant Manager / Shredder Maintenance Manager to oversee operations at our Owego NY facility. This is a critical leadership role responsible for managing daily plant functions leading maintenance for our shredder operations and ensuring safe efficient and compliant production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations of the plant including staff supervision scheduling and workflow coordination
Lead preventative and corrective maintenance on shredder and processing equipment
Ensure equipment uptime and minimize production interruptions
Troubleshoot mechanical hydraulic and electrical issues
Promote a strong safety culture and enforce compliance with OSHA and company standards
Maintain inventory of parts and tools and coordinate with vendors for timely repairs
Collaborate with senior management to meet production goals and improve operational efficiencies
Qualifications:
5 years of supervisory or management experience in an industrial or recycling plant environment
Strong background in heavy equipment or shredder maintenance (auto shredder experience preferred)
Solid mechanical electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills
Ability to read blueprints schematics and technical manuals
Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills
Ability to work extended hours weekends or emergencies as needed
Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
