Job Description

Canterbury College is a high-performing award-winning Anglican ELC to 12 school serving the dynamic growth corridor of Logan northern Gold Coast the Scenic Rim and southern Brisbane. To support this vision we are seeking an experienced and passionateDirector of Administration to ensure the highest standards in the day-to-day educational operations of the College.

The Director of Administration is a senior leadership position spanning Early Learning to Year 12. This role builds staff morale and organisational effectiveness through coordinated staffing support and information systems while advancing strategic priorities such as the Senior Schools innovative Catalyst program.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate daily staffing needs and manage teacher absences across Junior and Senior Schools.
  • Plan and manage variations to the timetable using Timetabling Solutions software.
  • Process staffing changes linked to leave applications and support overall workforce planning.
  • Play a key role in College timetable planning and succession including software proficiency.
  • Support classroom walkthroughs lesson observations and staff appraisal processes.
  • Mentor teachers new to Canterbury and assist with probationary review process in conjunction with the Deputy Principal.
  • Oversee academic support offerings like study blocks tutorials and Homework Help sessions.
  • Coordinate special events assemblies examinations and inter-House activities.
  • Manage the College Calendar including publication of weekly event summaries.
  • Collaborate across teams to resolve scheduling challenges and support College-wide events.
  • Liaise with the Communications Team for event photography and Yearbook content support.
  • Manage College Calendar planning approvals and regular weekly updates for internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the roll out for and logistics of the Year 11 and 12 Catalyst program as it moves from trial to pilot to full implementation.
  • Chair the Colleges Non-State Schools Accreditation Board (NSSAB) Review Working Party.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Proven experience and understanding of broader academic program staffing assessment requirements and examinations.
  • Experience in balancing competing interests and building a common approach to solving problems.
  • Proven experience monitoring programs across complex multi-dimensional aspects.
  • Ability to balance and understand the needs of a dynamic teaching workforce.
This position would suit a Head of Faculty/Department Head of Year/House or Co-curricular Director looking to take their next substantial step in school leadership. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team the incumbent will have opportunities for leadership development mentoring and coaching to enable them to grow as a professional in anticipation of their next step in schools.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current Queensland College of Teacher Registration.
  • Experience in Timetabling Solutions package (desirable but can be provided to the successful applicant)
  • High levels of IT systems competence.
  • Post graduate qualifications in Education are highly regarded.
