About the role

We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Perioperative Services Manager. The Perioperative Services Manager is responsible for the management of our two operating theatres procedure room and central sterilising department. You will work with the hospital executive team and all stakeholders to achieve excellence in care delivery in line with best practice and legislative requirements. This role offers the exciting opportunity to work closely with the Director of Clinical Services in the business development of surgical services including stakeholder management to enhance partnerships drive growth and improve service offerings.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Enhancing quality and safety by improving Key performance Indicators and achieving operational excellence through the implementation of ACHS Equip National standards.
  • Managing staff performance through structured appraisals recruitment retention and professional development while fostering a safe work environment and promoting health safety and welfare.
  • Building and nurturing relationships with Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) including recruitment development and improving documentation and communication to achieve high satisfaction levels.
  • Managing resources effectively including budget planning achieving target work hours per patient day (WHPPD) reducing agency utilisation and leading inventory management (clinical supplies prosthetics and loan sets).
  • Co-chairing the Work Health & Safety (WHS) committee managing return-to-work incidents and ensuring adherence to all WHS policies procedures and legislative requirements including risk minimization and bullying & harassment protocols.
  • Participating in strategic and operational planning aligned with St Vincents goals while ensuring compliance with the ANC Code of Ethics Mary Aikenhead Ministries Mission and Values and relevant state and commonwealth legislation.

Selection Criteria:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Extensive current clinical practice in perioperative role (Anaesthetics or Scrub/Scrub)
  • Recent theatre management experience and Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Perioperative Nursing (desirable)
  • Minimum five years post-graduate experience with significant exposure in a complex surgical setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including conflict resolution negotiation and the ability to build rapport with VMOs and staff
  • Working knowledge of ACORN Standards and AS/NZ4187-2014.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement excellence in outcomes and evidence-based practice
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills high-level computer literacy and OHS responsibility with leadership in risk minimisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage resources and experience in implementing sustainable change.

About the hospital
In this role you will be based at St Vincents Private Community Griffith (SVPCHG) which opened its doors in 2016. Since then it has been providing care for patients and families in the Murrumbidgee region and giving greater options of treatment closer to home.

Our modern facilities include three high-standard operating theatres including a procedure room that accommodate both overnight and day surgeries. Our contemporary fresh inpatient rooms are all single occupancy with private ensuite facilities ensuring our patients have a comfortable stay.

Patient meals are made on site in our modern kitchen and patients can select and order their meals from our all-day dining menu.

Two dedicated palliative care units provide families with spacious private facilities at a difficult time.

Our state-of-the-art sterilising unit services our hospital and Griffith Base Hospital.

Over 65 local staff members form the basis of our team providing compassionate and professional care for our patients and their families
