POSITION SUMMARY
The Direct Services Assistant Manager supports the operation and performance of internal food distribution programs ensuring efficient and effective service to address community food insecurity. This role includes supervising a team of four coordinators coordinating program resources and assisting with strategic initiatives to streamline food distribution processes as they align with the organizations strategic goals. Imperative to this role is the ability to maintain program compliance think critically foster relationships and interact with individuals throughout the organization and community in a positive fashion. The Direct Services Assistant Manager may be required to complete other tasks as assigned by the Direct Services Manager in support of FSDs mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Operations and Oversight
- Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of internal food distribution programs.
- Oversee food inventory scheduling and resource allocation to meet the program needs.
- Support the implementation of processes that improve program efficiency and service quality.
- Monitor distribution activities to ensure compliance with organizational policies safety standards and local regulations.
- Collaborate with volunteers site leads and community partners to support distribution events.
Team Leadership and Development
- Supervise the Direct Services Team providing clear direction coaching and performance feedback.
- Assign tasks manage workloads and evaluate team performance to meet program goals.
- Facilitate team meetings to communicate updates set goals and address challenges.
- Provide training and mentorship to staff and volunteers to ensure successful program operations.
Administrative and Strategic Planning
- Assist in developing and executing strategies to address community food insecurity effectively.
- Assist with the preparation of communication materials including updates to site leads and community members.
- Support data collection and analysis to evaluate program performance and outcomes.
- Participate in planning and implementation of special projects and campaigns such as seasonal distributions or program expansions.
INTERACTION
The position also requires frequent interaction with all FSD staff and volunteers of our community.
Qualifications :
EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE
Required
- High School Diploma/GED
- Previous experience working in a nonprofit or external facing role
Preferred
- Bachelors degree in nonprofit management social work or another related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in food distribution operations preferably within a nonprofit or community-focused organization.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer multi-line phone copier and printer.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California drivers license a satisfactory driving record including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agencys insurance carrier standards.
Must be able to obtain and keep a forklift and electric pallet jack certification. Training will be provided.

- Performs work in an office and warehouse space housing warehouse operations which may occasionally create an exposure to dust and pollen
- Sit and/or stand for extended periods walk bend at the waist and knees kneel and use hands arms and legs for dexterity balance and climbing stairs frequently. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods
- May lift carry and balance objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers and supplies
- Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory concentration and analytical thinking
- Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation office equipment and machines and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace
- Must be able to hear see including peripheral vision and distinction of colors read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins
- The noise level in the work environment varies and can be considered moderate.

PAY & HOURS
$26 - $29 per hour; Hybrid - 3 days/week in FSD office 2 days/week remote occasional evenings and weekends
