How youll contribute
The Workforce Manager Craft Operations will be a strategic leader who drives the planning development and efficient deployment of our hourly craft / skilled trades workforce across all commercial construction projects. This includes but is not limited to laborers carpenters operators and welders. This position is critical to optimizing labor utilization fostering a high-performance and safety-conscious culture and ensuring that our projects are adequately staffed with skilled personnel to meet production goals quality standards and budgetary requirements. The Workforce Manager will work closely with safety quality and field supervision to ensure our skilled tradespeople are properly trained in their craft as well as in the areas of safety quality productivity leadership and technology. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy vision and values of Boyd Jones Construction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Champion Safety & Quality: Lead all aspects of safety culture within the craft workforce. Drive adherence to the highest quality standards across craft operations through diligent implementation and oversight.
  • Lead Craft Workforce Strategy: Drive the strategic planning development and efficient deployment of our hourly skilled trades across all commercial projects actively managing supply and demand to optimize labor utilization and meet production goals.
  • Talent Acquisition Support & Partnership: Partner with our Talent Acquisition department to strategically support the recruitment and engaging onboarding processes for all craft personnel.
  • Craft Development & Retention Leadership: Take primary responsibility for leading the strategic training professional development and retention programs designed to build and sustain a highly skilled and productive craft workforce.
  • Optimize Project Labor Performance: Partner with project teams to ensure efficient labor allocation proactively manage craft-specific documentation (like timecards and cost codes) and identify/mitigate impacts to project schedules and budgets related to craft labor resources.
  • Support Strategic Company Growth: Provide expert guidance in pre-construction and proposal development related to skilled trades. Collaborate on innovative sourcing strategies and serve as a primary liaison for workforce insights across internal departments contributing to overall organizational success.
Location & Work Environment
  • This position is primarily based in our Omaha Nebraska office with required travel to various construction project sites. Youll experience a dynamic work environment that blends time in the office with hands-on engagement on job sites. A valid and unrestricted drivers license is required for this role. A company vehicle and/or allowance will be provided.
What youll bring
  • High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
  • Bachelors degree in construction management engineering or related field (Preferred)
  • In lieu of the above requirements relevant experience will be considered.
  • 7 years commercial construction experience
  • 5 years field labor management supervision or related experience
  • Proven track record in strategic workforce planning and development
  • Directly managing the success of craft labor utilization and productivity.
