Job Summary:

Join a global leader in manufacturing and play a critical role in keeping production running a Material Planning Analyst at Caterpillar you ensure the timely and efficient flow of raw materials and components from suppliers to the manufacturing facility by maintaining optimal inventory levels and coordinating with the supply chain to support uninterrupted production.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure the inventory stockroom environment complies with storage requirements for each product type including temperature humidity and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on supply chain management processes and best practices.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels by performing regular inventory analysis and recommending adjustments to stock levels based on demand forecasts and usage trends.
  • Coordinate the maintenance updates and troubleshooting of inventory management software to ensure accurate and real-time data tracking.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory discrepancies through cycle counts and audits ensuring data integrity across systems.
  • Collaborate with procurement production and logistics teams to align material availability with production schedules and minimize downtime.
  • Generate and analyze inventory performance reports to identify trends risks and opportunities for process improvement.

Education requirement:

Candidates should possess a degree or demonstrate equivalent knowledge through professional expertise

What skills you will have:

Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure alignment with production and maintenance needs.
  • Analyze inventory trends to optimize stock levels and reduce excess or obsolete materials.
  • Use ERP systems (e.g. SAP) to track inventory movements and generate reports.
  • Review part inventory details/descriptions and improve accuracy

Supply Chain Management:

  • Collaborate with suppliers logistics and procurement teams to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Monitor supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support demand planning and forecasting to align supply with production schedules.
  • Understand global supply chain dynamics and their impact on material planning.


Planning Tactical & Strategic:

  • Develop short- and long-term material plans based on production forecasts and lead times.
  • Balance cost efficiency and risk in planning decisions.
  • Organize inventory to maximize storage space within the crib
  • Align material planning strategies with broader business goals and KPIs.

Decision Making & Critical Thinking:

  • Evaluate data to make informed decisions on material purchases and inventory adjustments.
  • Prioritize tasks and resources to meet production deadlines and minimize delays.
  • Identify root causes of supply issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Use analytical tools to assess risks and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional Information:

This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week at the East Peoria IL Building LL facility.

Domestic relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.

Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position.

This position may require up to 5% travel.
