As an important member of the finance team this position is responsible for financial analysis and general accounting as well as specific responsibilities around accounting for fixed assets cash and other areas as assigned.
Responsibilities
- General ledger and account reconciliation for the MMCTG Functional Cost Centres (FCCs)
- Generating invoices to study sponsors and following up on their payments
- Monitoring review reconciliation and processing of interdepartmental charges (invoices) for trial participation and cost recoveries
- Assisting with budgeting of clinical trials and amendments to approved budgets
- Coordinating the preparation and analysis of report schedules for internal and external stakeholders including academic partners and financial activity reconciliation on a monthly quarterly basis and ad-hoc
- Support on patient travel reimbursements review and processing and payment follow up
- Review of clinical trial patients financial recruitment (Billing Transactions) within the hospitals Electronic Medical Record (EPIC)
- Financial and administrative backup to our groups FA II and Administrative Assistant roles
- Other tasks as assigned and ad-hoc requests which may include but are not limited to developing accounting system for clinical trials contributing to business cases for program expansion/consolidation etc. or participating on special committees
Qualifications :
- University degree in Finances Accounting program or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of accounting principles practices and procedures
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is an asset
- Previous experience with research funding is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to prioritize highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Experience with financial modeling and projections
- Experience with financial and cost accounting and with analyzing and interpreting large quantities of financial and statistical data
- Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications preferably in Microsoft 365 Power tools well verse with Excel formulas including pivot tables etc.
- Client service oriented with the ability to effectively work within a diverse team and with the ability to appreciate that people with different opinions backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the clinical research team
