Buncombe County is hiring an Administrative Support Associate IV for the Buncombe County Planning Department. The Buncombe County Planning and Development Department develops and enforces ordinances policies and procedures related to the use of land in order to maintain orderly and responsible growth in the county. The department administers a number ofordinancesand programs related tozoningsubdivisionsaffordable housing transportation sustainability E-911 addressing floodplain management and stormwater and erosion control.

This position reports to the Development Services Division Manager. This person will work closely with our customers and staff to ensure a positive and timely experience. Ideal candidates possess strong communication and organizational skills.

This position is in-person Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm and will be located at 35 Woodfin St. Asheville NC position is posted until August 3rd with interviews expected to take place in early August. The new hire will start work in late August.


Purpose of the position:

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support in a variety of functions requiring specialized skills for a particular program or department within the organization.

Minimum Education Training and/or Experience (required at time of hire): High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of progressive office experience including customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Training and Experience: Demonstrated proficiency using computer and programs including Microsoft Office suite at the advanced level including Word Excel Access and PowerPoint.
