Job Description
Job Summary:
Sugar Creek Charter School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeableBusiness Teacherto join our high school faculty. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching business concepts and preparing students with real-world skills in entrepreneurship marketing finance and business management. The teacher will be expected to develop engaging curriculum integrate technology and practical applications and support students career readiness and financial literacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver standards-based instruction in a variety of business-related subjects (e.g. entrepreneurship marketing accounting personal finance business law and management).
- Create engaging real-world lesson plans that incorporate project-based learning simulations and current industry trends.
- Guide students in the development of financial literacy and career exploration skills.
- Integrate business technology tools and software into the curriculum (e.g. spreadsheets presentation software financial planning tools).
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking collaboration and ethical decision-making.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with school policies and classroom procedures.
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments and maintain accurate records.
- Support student participation in business-related extracurricular activities such as DECA FBLA or school-based enterprises.
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular initiatives and school improvement efforts.
- Communicate regularly with parents students and administration about student progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in staff meetings professional development and school events as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Business Education Business Administration or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching certification in Business or CTE (Career & Technical Education) or ability to obtain certification.
- Strong knowledge of business concepts financial literacy and current industry trends.
- Experience in secondary education or related industry/business experience preferred.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- Excellent communication organization and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience advising DECA FBLA or other business-focused student organizations.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms LMS (e.g. Google Classroom Canvas) and business simulation software.
- Industry certification (e.g. Microsoft Office Specialist QuickBooks) is a plus.
- Background in career readiness programming or CTE curriculum development.
