This is a non-tenure accruing position that will be 70% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) and 30% extension (Florida Cooperative Extension Service) available at the West Florida Research and Education Center University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit. The successful candidate will work with UF/IFAS faculty to develop and conduct turfgrass research and extension projects related to mixed species evaluations on photovoltaic facilities germplasm trials in coordination with turfgrass breeders novel product evaluations and turfgrass culture and management. The incumbent will participate in extension outreach efforts including in-person remote and online learning activities. The incumbent is expected to participate in interdisciplinary turf research and extension projects and to secure extramural funding to support both the turf research and extension programs at UF. The successful applicant is expected to publish peer-reviewed scientific articles and extension publications ( position is available August 15 2025 and will be filled as soon thereafter as an acceptable applicant is available.

UF/IFAS employs nearly 4500 people which includes approximately 990 salaried faculty and 1400 permanent support personnel located in Gainesville and throughout the state. IFAS one of the nations largest agricultural and natural resources research and education organizations is administered by a Vice President and four deans: the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences the Dean for Extension and Director of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service the Dean for Research and Director of the Florida Agricultural Experiment Station and the Dean for the College of Veterinary Medicine. UF/IFAS also engages in cooperative work with Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.
Commensurate with Education and Experience
An earned doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in horticulture agronomy soil science or a closely related discipline is required. Skills in statistical methods turfgrass science product evaluations and species evaluations are essential. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication interpersonal relationships and procurement of extramural funding. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land Grant must also have a commitment to UF core must be able to work on interdisciplinary team projects and to work with a variety of audiences.
